Hockey Pro League: Argentina Games Canceled – Weather

NOS Sport

The Pro League match between the Dutch hockey players and Argentina has been canceled due to thunder and heavy rain in Santiago del Estero. It is not yet clear if and when the match will be made up.

The match was scheduled for 9:30 PM in the Argentinian evening, just before the thunderstorm broke out. After an hour and a half of waiting for better conditions, the match was canceled.

Three days earlier, rain was also a spoilsport to a lesser extent in the previous confrontation between the Dutch team and the Argentinians. Then the match (4-0 for the Dutch) ended four minutes earlier because the field was declared unplayable.

According to the FIH regulations, the associations involved must consult with each other to make up a canceled race, but a new date and location must be found.

If that doesn’t work, the previous victory over Argentina could earn double points for the Netherlands.

The Dutch women are still undefeated after three matches this season. They won five of the previous six editions of the Pro League, a competition between the nine strongest hockey countries. This season there is something extra at stake, because the winner will qualify for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.
