Eastern Zone Inter-University Table Tennis Competition was held at Pt. Ravi Shankar Shukla University. The team of Hemchand Yadav University also participated in this. For the first time, the women’s table tennis team of the university stood first in the knock out round held in its bridge in the East Zone competition. With this, it has qualified for the All India Inter University Competition for the first time.
The university team got fourth position in the league match played for rank. The men’s team was eliminated in the knock out round. Hemchand University’s Director of Sports and Team Manager Dr. Dinesh Namdev said that Hemchand University’s first match in the knock out round was to be against Dibrugarh University, but due to his not coming, the team got a walk over. The second match was played against Chhattisgarh Swami Vivekananda Technical University, Bhilai and the third match was played against Arunachal University. In both the matches, Hemchand University team won 3-0. By winning all three matches, Hemchand University team stood first in its bridge. Because of this, he qualified for the All India Inter-College Competition. After this, league matches were played between the top teams of the four bridges for rank and position. In this the university team stood fourth. Pragya Pathak (Science College Durg), Abhigya Kannauj (St. Thomas College Bhilai), Deepti Mandavi (Mansa College Kohka) and Anugrah Chaudhary (Women’s College Sector-9) performed better in the matches. The team coach is Dr. Ritu Dubey. Vice Chancellor Dr. Sanjay Tiwari and Registrar Bhupendra Kuldeep expressed happiness over this achievement and expressed hope of better performance in the All India Competition also. Sports officials Dr. Naresh Dhar Diwan, Dr. Ramesh Tripathi, Dr. Munnalal Nandeshwar, Arun Chaudhary and Laxmendra Kuldeep have wished for a bright future for the players. All India inter-college competition of table tennis will be held at Osmania University, Hyderabad from 26 to 30 December.
