Lewis Hamilton does not think the premature end to the development of this year’s car will have a psychological impact on the team.
Ferrari has not won a race this year. Lewis Hamilton didn’t even make the podium. He celebrated success only in the opening sprint of the season in China. It’s possible that if Ferrari had worked on the car longer, the situation would have been a bit better. In Maranello, however, they decided to end the development of the car already in April and concentrate on the new rules.
“It didn’t have a psychological impact on me personally,” Hamilton said, as quoted by RacingNews365. “I had no idea that we would end up like this at the end of the year, no one predicted it, but naturally it looked worse.”
“But I pushed it, I took it as: ‘we can’t fall behind others in developing a new car,’ because it’s a steep learning curve for all of us.”
“I supported it 100 per cent and I still think it was the right decision, especially considering where we were with the car – we weren’t fighting for the title. It meant it was harder to maintain the performance we had. I can’t speak for the rest of the team, but in my experience they all stayed really positive, so I didn’t notice any psychological impact.”
