Ahmedabad : GS Delhi Aces captured the Tennis Premier League (TPL) title for the first time with an impressive 51-36 win over Yash Mumbai Eagles in the final here. Belgian player Sophia Costoulas once again performed brilliantly late on Sunday night by defeating Riya Bhatia 18-7 and maintaining her unbeaten record in women’s singles.
The mixed doubles pair of Kostoulas and Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan strengthened Delhi Aces’ lead by defeating Bhatia and Nikki Punacha 16-9 with strong returns and confident net play. In men’s singles, Mumbai Eagles’ world No. 57 Damir Dzumhur defeated Billy Harris 16-9 to give the team some comeback but GS Delhi Aces still had a lead of 11 points.
Men’s doubles Harris and Nedunchezhiyan put in a composed and controlled performance to seal Delhi’s victory by defeating Nikki Punacha and Jumhoor 8-4.
