December 20th (local time 19th, same date below). Candidates for the 2026 Basketball Hall of Fame were announced by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame (hereinafter referred to as the Hall of Fame) on the American sports network ESPN’s NBA Today program.
The finalists will be announced by the selection committee in each category by February 10, 2026. The 2026 Hall of Fame inductees will be announced on April 5th during the Final Four period of the NCAA Tournament, followed by a celebration at Mohegan Sun on August 15th and an induction ceremony the following day at Symphony Hall in Springfield, Massachusetts.
Among those nominated for the first time by the North American Committee as Hall of Fame candidates are Blake Griffin, a six-time All-Star, Jamal Crawford, a three-time Sixth Man Award winner (all former members of the Los Angeles Clippers), and a seven-time All-Star with outstanding competitiveness. Joe Johnson (former Atlanta Hawks, etc.), three-time All-Star Brandon Roy (former Portland Trail Blazers, etc.), and Scott Skiles (former Orlando Magic, etc.), who holds the NBA record for most assists in a game with 30, were included.
Additionally, Mike D’Antoni, who coached the Phoenix Suns and Houston Rockets, was nominated for the first time by the Meritorious Achievement Committee.
