The last Sunday before Christmas 2025 is very sad for Italian football. And also for Pescara, which mourns the death of one of its old coaches, Giorgio Rumignani. At 86 years old in Lignano Sabbiadoro, as reported by the local media and also those of the cities where the coach coached (Telesveva, Antenna Sud, Corriere Adriatico for example), the long-time coach left his earthly life. After a career as a midfielder in national clubs, Rumignani took the path of coaching in the Seventies, bringing character and professionalism to many professional and semi-professional Italian teams. In Pescara he was the great protagonist of the historic salvation in 1993-94, that of the return to Serie B after the experience in Serie A in a season characterized by a strong initial penalty and changes on the bench (it started with Corelli and Zucchini and continued with the late Franco Scoglio before the arrival of “Rum”).
