Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek emphasized unity to the yellow-red community and said, “Attacks continue from all sides to stop us from our path. You are watching the statements of the authorities, which are supposed to be impartial, targeting Galatasaray. We will defeat all these plans by uniting against these attacks, as we have done before. My request from you is to continue our atmosphere of unity and solidarity. If this happens, no matter what they do, they cannot prevent Galatasaray’s success.”
Galatasaray Sports Club’s regular December board meeting is held at the Özhan Canaydın Conference Hall in RAMS Park. Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek made statements at the meeting. Özbek announced that he will not be able to provide service for a while as of December 22 due to some work to be done on Galatasaray Island. Stating that an investigation was carried out on the building in Hasnun Galip, Mayor Özbek said, “A lot of projects have been submitted to put this building into operation. While doing this, I took into consideration that this building is old, built according to the technology of that day. Istanbul is an earthquake zone. I was concerned that the damage it would suffer from the earthquake would threaten life safety. I requested the relevant municipality to examine it. I received the municipality’s report today. What is recommended to us is this: ‘This building cannot be inhabited anymore. They say either strengthen it or demolish it and rebuild it.’ “We will strengthen it or demolish it and start rebuilding. I will bring this to you in the next general assembly. This building is a building that reflects our history. I want it to be built accordingly,” he said.
The administration building will be in Aslantepe
Providing information about the current status of the Aslantepe project, Dursun Özbek said, “In our contacts with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, we presented a project to them in order to turn our building in Aslantepe into a sports complex. We received their approval. There is a basketball hall, volleyball hall, halls where we can do indoor sports, a swimming pool and an accommodation facility. Currently, the management of our club is in the stadium. The fact that all offices are out of sight poses an obstacle to our activities. I can say that our management costs are at the highest level. We illuminate the entire stadium, in summer. We cool it, we heat it in winter. Also, ensuring safety is something in itself.
Your security expenses are reaching an astounding level. One of the most important issues in Aslantepe is the construction of a compact administration building. Our project is ready, ground studies seem to be completed. Hopefully we will break ground in March or early April. “I think that the project we will do in Aslantepe is the project of Galatasaray for the next 100 years and that it will have completed its establishment,” he said.
Stating that they have started to work on the infrastructure section to be built at Kemerburgaz Metin Oktay Facilities, the president of the yellow-reds said, “We have completed the camp facility and field works for our A team. It was very nice. Our second phase is the infrastructure, football fields that will appeal to the infrastructure and we have a field with tribunes for matches. Containers have arrived for our construction activities. We have started that too. I think this facility is very important.” Dursun Özbek stated that there has been rapid work on the Mecidiyeköy project for the last two months and that he expects it to be completed at the end of April and the beginning of May.

It is very important to be able to achieve these works by using our own means. “The fact that Galatasaray Sports Club has such opportunities is even more important. Just trust me and my friends. The only thing we get courage and strength from is your support. We set very important goals for our amateur branches at the beginning of this season. Our job is not easy. Every one of our friends is working hard to the fullest.”
