FT Jahn Landsberg: Christmas Show Sporting Highlights

Dancing and gymnastics, football and badminton, table tennis and archery: the FT Jahn Landsberg Christmas show was, like all the years before, a great performance show. In the sports center, the departments presented how they get children, young people and adults, toddlers as well as those who are no longer so young, active.

After the official welcome and opening of the show by presenter Nina Swoboda, 17 gymnasts from the F to C youth were the first to show a training sequence. After “Don’t stop me now,” the girls whirled forwards and backwards across the mats with cartwheels, jumps and somersaults. They crawled in push-ups and fell into the splits. The dance group “next level” has existed since 2017. Seven young women between the ages of 18 and 21 used their demonstration to promote the group, which is always happy to welcome new members.

A happy boogie to “Jingle Bells” in the Landsberg sports center

Football is the largest department. 400 club members play in 15 teams. “Who let the dogs out?” It wasn’t dogs who shot at the goal after this hit. Rather, many smaller and larger girls and boys grabbed one of the many balls and, standing on a mat, shot it towards the goal. Growing female power is particularly in demand. Dressed in the style of the 1940s and 1950s, twelve dancing couples then swung across the dance floor in boogie style. As an extra treat for the Christmas show, the group performed a cheerful boogie on “Jingle Bells.” This dance group, founded in 2017, is also happy about growth and is not only physical training for its members, but also brain jogging.

The archers had already started setting up. This sport has been cultivated under the wing of FT Jahn since 1978. There has also long been a dedicated shooting range. Successes can be celebrated accordingly. This year the youth became Upper Bavarian champions and came third in the whole of Bavaria. Shining arrows shot from glowing bows: That’s what the archers came up with to round off their pre-Christmas performance. Rock’n’Roll Acrobatics – this department has also existed since 1978. Founded by Klaus and Ute Nowak, a number of Bavarian, German and international champions have already been celebrated. Tobias Planer, department head since 2024, also danced acrobatically. Young talent and competitive couples showed what this sport is all about. It’s not just exercise, but also passion for music.

In badminton, glowing balls travel

After that it became quieter – but only a little. The badminton department is currently growing. For the Christmas show, glowing balls were initially transported across the net. Afterwards it was competitive to show that badminton is definitely a strenuous sport. Nine competitive gymnasts from the A and B youth followed. You recently came second in a freestyle competition. They presented exercises on the balance beam and the jump as well as figures from the floor routine.

Lots of balls, fast play and quick changes – that’s table tennis in training. There are currently five men’s and two youth teams with high-performance players at FT Jahn. Finally, dance again: The rookies are seven girls between the ages of 14 and 16 who have dedicated themselves to street dance. Finally, the Dance Solution consists of 14 dancers aged 21 and over, whose motto “Dancing is dreaming with your feet” is implemented in competitions. This also applies to the Christmas choreography performed together with the rookies. It’s a shame that a lot of the audience didn’t stay until the end. Finally, Santa Claus also paid a visit to the show.
