It has been a great few weeks at Ajax for Aaron Bouwman. The 18-year-old defender fought his way into the starting line-up of the Amsterdam team and was rewarded with a contract extension. His father is especially proud.
Bouwman has been in Ajax’s youth academy since he was eleven. His father is a fanatic fan and is very happy that his son plays for the Amsterdam team. “He is a diehard Ajax man,” the defender reveals ESPN. “He used to be on the F-Side. He is happy with how I am doing now. There are always things that need to be improved.”
Does Bouwman realize how fast his career is going? “Not completely, but I try to enjoy every match what I get to experience. Making my debut has always been a dream. If you can play such great matches at such a young age, that is very nice. I am always relaxed; I go into matches fairly ‘normally’ in my opinion. It is not that I am full of stress.”
Bouwman has played six matches for Ajax’s first team so far. In all those matches, the team from Amsterdam won when the young defender started in the starting line-up. He will end the first half of the season on Saturday evening with the away match against NEC.
