Tight finish
Sofie Lundin would get another chance on a free kick just 30 seconds into the third period, but again this time Stephanie Neatby stood in the way. The feeling at the start of the third was that Frölunda, despite the game not quite clicking, was outnumbered by the opponents and on the way to a sure victory.
But 2-0 is not a safe lead. Especially not if you are careless in your own zone, which Frölunda did. HV71’s Adriana Van De Leest caught the puck behind Frölunda’s goal and sent a pass in front of the goal. It got messy in front of Maja Helge and in the end it was Van De Leest himself who appeared and scored the reduction goal for the away team with 15 minutes left in the match.
After that followed a few minutes where it was HV71 who drove the game, but Frölunda defended well and made it difficult for the opponents to get shots. Frölunda held off, even though it got a little nervous at the end when HV71 picked out the goalkeeper, and the victory means that Frölunda steps past Brynäs and into second place in the table. First is Luleå, two points ahead but with three games more played.
