For several weeks already, his place on the Riviera bench had been in danger. According to the newspaper L’Équipe and RMC, information that we confirm, the story ended this Sunday: Franck Haise, at the club for a year and a half, is no longer the coach of OGC Nice.
Claude Puel (club coach between 2012 and 2016) is in pole position to replace him, accompanied in his staff by Julien Sablé.
Thirteenth in Ligue 1, the Aiglons experienced a cataclysmic end to 2025. They only ended a series of nine defeats last weekend against Saint-Étienne, in the Coupe de France (2-1). They are also last in the Europa League standings, without a single point.
Less than a month ago, serious incidents even took place at the Nice training center. Returning from a defeat at Lorient (3-1), the team bus was greeted by hundreds of supporters in a very hostile climate.
Attackers Terem Moffi and Jérémie Boga were reportedly physically targeted, as was the club’s sports director, Florian Maurice. After a crisis meeting, Franck Haise ultimately did not leave his position as coach.
Change in club presidency
A first change had already been made in the Nice organization chart on December 19 with the departure of president Fabrice Bocquet. The duo composed of Jean-Pierre Rivère and Maurice Cohen, former presidents of the club, took over.
Franck Haise’s first season on the Côte d’Azur, after a successful stint at RC Lens, was nevertheless successful. OGC Nice ranked fourth in Ligue 1, ahead of Lille, Lyon and Strasbourg.
