Thursday (11) saw changes in the technical command of the Fortaleza. The tricolor board announced the departure of Martin Palermo and acted quickly to define Thiago Carpini as a replacement.
Announced in September as Juan Pablo Vojvoda’s replacement, Palermo was unable to free Fortaleza from relegation to the Brasileirão Series B despite the reaction in the final stretch. They were eight wins, four draws and five defeats.
“Fortaleza Esporte Clube is grateful for the work carried out by Martín Palermo and his technical committee, and that the new directions he chooses continue to reflect the same seriousness and dedication that he demonstrated at our home”, announced the club.
Without wasting time, the tricolor board announced the arrival of Thiago Carpini, who left the Youth after being demoted in Brasileirão. The contract runs until December 2026 and the coach has access to Series B as his main objective.
“Carpini accepted the challenge of coaching Fortaleza in the second division out of respect for the Club and understanding that it is a club that has projects, does good work, has a structure, a squad and that will come back very strong in 2026”, said Fortaleza’s CEO, Marcelo Paz.
“We had an initial contact with him at the Football Department, where the first steps were already lined up, he talked a little about the squad, work profile, day-to-day life, how he intends to lead and we understand that he is a good name. A very coveted name in the Brazilian market, which is from the new crop of coaches and who has all the profile to help Fortaleza return to the first division. Fortaleza once again has a Brazilian coach after some time and we are very happy and excited about this arrangement”, he added.
Thiago Carpini is 41 years old and has access to the Brazilian Series B – in 2023, with Juventude. The coach still has tickets to go GuaraniOeste, Inter de Limeira, Santo André, RailwayHoly Water, Victory e São Paulofor whom he was champion of Brazilian Super Cup em 2024.
