LIVERPOOL – Swedish football player Alexander Isak underwent ankle surgery and will be sidelined for a long time.

On Monday, his club Liverpool and AFP reported about it.

Twenty-six-year-old striker Isak suffered an injury in the weekend league match of the reigning champion at Tottenham Hotspur (2:1) while scoring a goal in the interim 1:0. He was only on the field for ten minutes at that time.

“Alexander Isak today successfully underwent surgery on the injury he suffered on Saturday. After diagnosis, surgery was performed on the injured ankle, which also included a fractured fibula,” Liverpool said in an official statement.
