Excideuil/Saint-Médard and Terrasson thought they were playing a simple Departmental 2 match, the 10th level of French football. But, last Sunday September 21, the game quickly turned into a cloak and dagger spectacle. The District disciplinary committee ruled and sanctioned the excesses.

While the local club was leading 2-1, an exchange of words between the mother of a player and a local supporter ended in a heated confrontation according to South West. The player concerned was sent off, but when the final whistle blew, around ten visitors decided that kicking the ball was no longer enough.

An exemplary sanction

Faced with the dramatic turn of events, the disciplinary committee did not laugh. The incidents were serious enough for the District authority to open an investigation. After hearings, examination of reports and videos, and several instruction meetings, the sanction fell on Wednesday December 10.

Three players from Terrasson FC each receive 100 matches of firm suspension, while the club must serve two matches behind closed doors, without forgetting the fines. On the Terrasson side, we also cleaned up: exclusions, departures, and many sighs of relief for the leaders.
