Filipe Luís’ first full season as Flamengo coach could not have gone better. He won the Carioca, the Supercopa do Rei, the Brasileirão and the Libertadores, in a season that will forever remain in the history of the Brazilian giant. But it wasn’t just a question of results, because although the final stretch of the Brasileirão provided a close fight with Palmeiras, Flamengo was, for the overwhelming majority of the season, the club that played the best football in Brazil. It is the credit of Filipe Luís, who knew how to convince the most skeptical, and show that he is even ready for European flights.

With the huge change in the game engine in Football Manager 26, the way tactics are constructed has changed substantially, forcing the player to think separately about positioning and behavior with the ball and without the ball. It's something new that, in my opinion, made sense a long time ago, and which fortunately arrived in this year's edition. Flamengo's identity is undoubtedly the quality of its positional play. They were the most competent team in the championship when it came to facing low blocks and they did so quite effectively, dismantling any opponent that appeared in front of them without much difficulty. The enormous individual quality present in the squad cannot be ignored either, yet it was Filipe Luís who knew how to take advantage of what he had at hand to make everyone believe in his vision and his methods. Flamengo is a pleasure to watch play, and this is also reflected in the results.
Instructions to the Team (Without the Ball)
Here too there is a very strong identity. Filipe Luís is a fan of counter-pressing, and it was one of the reasons why Flamengo were so consistent in a championship that is known for its competitiveness. It's a team that doesn't let its opponent play much, falling on top in the first phase of the opponent's construction. They are extremely aggressive in reacting to losing the ball, and this also favors them when they recover the ball, since the verticality they place immediately afterwards, provides them with several scoring opportunities.
