Fluminense beat Sport 2-0, this Sunday (07/12), in a game valid for the second round of the Women’s Cup. Sophia and Adrielly scored the goals at Arena Ibrachina, in São Paulo. With the result, Tricolor reaches six points and occupies second place in Group E, tied on points with the leader.

The team led by coach Barbara Saar returns to the field next Wednesday (10/12) to face Santos in the third and final round of the group stage. The match will be again at Arena Ibrachina, at 3pm, with live broadcast on Paulistão’s YouTube channel.

THE GAME
Fluminense started the match by putting pressure on the opponent and had the first chance in the 13th minute, when Milena received the ball in front, invaded the area past the marker and finished blocked. At 16, it was Adrielly’s turn to make an individual play and shoot hard, but stopped in defense. The goal almost came at 30, when Adrielly sent a cross to the outside. At 33, Mileninha put the goalkeeper to work with a dangerous free kick. In the next move, the ball fell to Sophia to open the scoring.

The second almost came out in the first minute of the second half with Carioca, who had just entered. Tricolor got scared again with Adrielly and Carioca, who forced the goalkeeper to make two saves in a row. At 24, Carioca was brought down in the area and a penalty was awarded, converted with skill by Adrielly. Meninas de Xerém continued to attack, and Larissa almost expanded with a cross, but the defense blocked it.
