After his long-awaited first competitive goal for Liverpool FC, Florian Wirtz let his emotions run wild. A loud scream for goal was heard, followed by strong slaps on the club crest on his jersey, before he stuck out his tongue with a mischievous grin. This was probably also a small greeting to his critics, who had already speculated that he would never score for his new club because of his problems adjusting to the game. The relief was therefore not only evident for Wirtz. The BBC reported that the fans at Anfield “didn’t just cheer, they roared” after the goal.
