Flamengo Women: 4th in World Sevens Football

Fourth place in the friendly tournament

The female cast of Flemish finished fourth in the second edition of the World Sevens Footballa fut7 tournament played in the United States that brings together the biggest teams in the country. This was the club’s first experience in the sport.

Rubro-Negro performed well in the group stage, with a victory over Kansas Citytied with Toronto and defeat for Tigers. However, in the semi-final, Meninas da Gávea lost to San Diego Wave by 5 to 1 and, subsequently, were surpassed by America 1-0 in the fight for third place.

In an interview with Flamengo’s official website, the striker Christiansa highlight of the offensive sector, analyzed the team’s participation in the global event.

“First I would like to say to those who are following us, I say that this competition was extraordinary. The American has this very strong entertainment side and all of this was very well explained to all of us. They didn’t just want to participate on the field, but in the event. It’s a custom and it was an incredible experience for us. I leave here satisfied with the experience. Of course we wanted to win, but everything was valid. I hope we return in 2026”said the attacker.

San Diego Wave victory

O San Diego Wave, de Dudinha, won the trophy for the second edition of World Sevens Football and the prize of US$ 2 million. The team from Florida, in the United States, defeated the Tigersfrom Mexico, 3-0, on Sunday (07).

Meanwhile, the Americaalso from Mexico, secured third place in the fut7 tournament after beating Flemish.

Flamengo’s season in women’s football

Flamengo’s year was full of ups and downs. The team started the season on the right foot, winning the Women’s Rio Cup. However, Rubro-Negro fell in the quarter-finals of the Brasileirão and from Brazilian Cup for Palmeiras and São Paulo, respectively.
