Flamengo Transfers: Bap Details Reinforcements & Age Limit Policy

The president of Flamengo, Luiz Eduardo Baptista, known as Bap, detailed the club’s plans for signings in 2026. According to the director, who made a presentation to members this Tuesday, at the Gávea headquarters, the strategy will be to invest in younger players.

– We will continue with the process of reinforcing the squad. And reduce the average age. You have to have stronger, younger players. And we will encourage fierce competition in all positions. Have 22 starters. We probably won’t buy any player over 26 years of age. When you buy it at 29 or 30, it will surely die with you. It devalues the asset – said Bap.

Without detailing the amount budgeted for reinforcements, Bap praised the large revenue from sales, which generated a profit for Flamengo of R$511 million in 2025. According to the president, from now on Flamengo will not need to sell at this level, and will only do so with guarantees.

– We do not sell without guarantee. If we are to not receive the money and fight if there is a risk of not receiving it, we will not sell – said Bap.

The strategy involves the idea of maintaining the base of the current squad, with occasional adjustments. At this moment, the focus is on bringing goalkeeper, defender, winger and center forward.
