Flamengo in US World Sevens Football | News & Updates

There’s something new in the Red and Black women’s football calendar in this final stretch of the season. After becoming the reigning champion of Rio after a 2-0 victory over Fluminense, Flamengo is ready to participate in a Fut7 tournament in the United States, World Sevens Football. It is worth mentioning that, in 2025, the club played the Supercopa do Brasil, the Copa Rio, the Brasileirão Feminino and the Copa do Brasil.

The competition promotes the exchange of cultures and ideas, in addition to promoting the internationalization of the red and black brand in women’s football. The competition will be held in Fort Laudeardale, in the United States, between December 5th and 7th. The matches will be played at Beyond Bancard Field, home of Fort Laudeardale United FC.

This will be the second edition of World Sevens Football. The first took place in May of that year, in Portugal. The champion was Bayern Munich. In total, eight teams participate and the prize pool is around US$5 million. All games will be broadcast on DAZN.

“As soon as we received the invitation, we were impressed with the organization and success of the first edition. The date fits perfectly into our competition calendar, so we concluded our participation and signed a two-year contract. It’s a great opportunity for the internationalization of the brand and the prize pool is very high, one of the biggest currently. We’re going with maximum strength to return from the United States in the first places” stated André Rocha, manager of the sport.

“World Sevens Football is more than a competition. It’s an idea created to inspire the next generations and celebrate the best of the game. Having Flamengo with us shows how we are reaching out to every continent. With the addition of a youth competition and a historic five million dollar prize pool, we are building a global ecosystem that connects young athletes, professionals and fans in a shared vision for the future of football. We look forward to December,” said Jen Mackesy, one of the founders of W7F.

Tickets will be sold here (www.worldsevensfootball.com). For more information, visit the official website.
