Flamengo showed interest in signing 20-year-old defender Jair Cunha. The defender is out of space at Nottingham Forest-ING and has made just two official appearances since being sold by Botafogo in July.
The red-black team has not yet made an official proposal, but if it does, it will most likely be a loan with an option to purchase. In parallel, Flamengo is trying to sign Vitão, from Internacional.
The board’s idea is to reinforce the defense, which has Léo Ortiz, Léo Pereira and Danilo. Furthermore, the red-black football department also wants to rejuvenate the squad a little for next season. In this sense, the arrival of Jair Cunha is well regarded.
A right-handed defender with good ball release and a tall height of 1.98m, Jair Cunha was one of Botafogo’s highlights in the first half of this season. There were 22 matches for the black and white team and one goal scored, in the debut of the Club World Cup against the Seattle Sounders-USA.
The sale of Jair Cunha to Nottingham Forest was made official by Botafogo shortly after the tournament in the United States. The values were 12 million euros (approximately R$78.5 million).
