A very young sports association in the city (it is only its second year of existence), the Badminton club Gignac organized its first federal tournament on the weekend of December 14 and 15. With a certain success and a dose of humor as evidenced by the title of the event (the Anteam tournament, the donkey being the totemic animal of Gignac) and the names of certain formations, between the “Merguez-sausages” and the “Bags”. For the occasion, the BCG did things well, with a wall of photos of the players designed with a professional photographer, each participant thus having the opportunity to keep a souvenir of the tournament.
18 teams, mainly from Hérault but also from Générac (Gard) or Toulouse, took part in this great first. The president of the club, Laurianne Navas, welcomes the provision of the gymnasium by the town hall and the fact that “many businesses in Gignac took part in the raffle”.
The one who is also a player is one of the winners of the tournament in series 2 with the Oki Donkey team made up of players from Gignac and Juvignac. Being both on the floor and in the organization might seem difficult to reconcile, but “I am well supported by the team of volunteers, I am not alone”, she confides.
Among the winners of the weekend, we also include the “Flying Calves” (Montpellier and Castelnau-le-Lez) in series 1 and the Toulouse team Insa in series 3.
