An unusual result. The French Football Federation (FFF) recorded a deficit of 8.7 million euros last season, mainly due to its support for the professional sector in crisis, it explained during its general assembly on Saturday in Paris.
A debt waiver of 10 million euros in favor of professional football and the “industrial incident” of the France-Israel match and its very low attendance, which cost the FFF €2.5 million, essentially explain this deficit observed for the 2024-2025 financial year, explained financial director Marc Varin. The budget amounts to €287.2 million, a slight increase compared to the 2023-2024 season (€283.2 million).
“An assumed deficit”
The fall in television rights for professional football has also mechanically led to a drop in what the Professional Football League (LFP) pays to its supervisory federation. The 3F also allocated €107 million in aid to amateur football.
“This season ends with an assumed, lucid deficit, consistent with our choices, we supported our ecosystem when it needed it,” concluded the financial director. In the short term, the FFF should benefit from the renewal of the contract with the equipment manufacturer Nike, which will take effect from July 1, 2026 and should bring in between €80 and €100 million per season for the FFF.
