Feyenoord Fans vs The Twelfth Shirt: Controversy

Feyenoord and Castore created a great campaign in which Feyenoord supporters were allowed to submit shirt designs: The Twelfth Shirt. A beautiful green shirt was presented, with gold accents and an embroidered logo in original colors. But nothing turned out to be further from the truth.

The first supporters have now ordered the shirt – for no less than 99.95 euros – and received it at home. However, the shirt that came through the letterbox does not look anything like the beautiful design that was online in the Feyenoord Fanshop. This causes bad blood among fans who ordered the shirt and expected something completely different. (See photo in attached tweet)

‘Sending it back en masse and asking for a refund’, ‘Just received the shirt and I almost cried with disappointment’ and ‘What a shame. It looks like an AliExpress shirt’: a selection of the reactions about this shirt on social media. The beautiful green color, which resembles the colors of the city of Rotterdam, does not resemble the colors that ultimately appeared on the shirt. In addition, the pattern on the shirt, the ‘F’ of Feyenoord and ’12’ of the Twelfth Man, initially seemed very subtle, but there is little subtlety on the produced shirt.

It is yet another chapter in a difficult collaboration between Feyenoord and Castore. There are many complaints about quality, delivery times, and now also about ‘fraud’, as supporters have been made happy with a dead sparrow. It is still unclear whether this will continue.
