Feyenoord Ex-Player: Manager Slap Controversy

Quilindschy Hartman was unexpectedly on the sidelines in the Premier League this weekend. The Burnley left back was not part of the match selection for the away match against Bournemouth, although there were no physical complaints.

The decision caused surprise, because Hartman is a regular at Burnley this season, the current number nineteen in the Premier League. The Dutch defender appears at kick-off almost every week and has only missed one match so far, during the away match against Newcastle United.

The fact that Hartman was now completely left out of the selection was a conscious choice by trainer Scott Parker. Afterwards, the Englishman explained his hard decision about the former Feyenoord player. “I just put together a squad that I think is best for today’s match. Sometimes that leaves someone out, and today it’s Q,” Parker said.

Hartman’s place at left back was taken by Lucas Pires. The Brazilian started the kick-off, despite the fact that he had to settle for a role as a substitute for the PhD candidate this season.

With Pires in the starting line-up, Burnley managed to put an end to a painful series. After seven consecutive defeats in the Premier League, the team won a point when it visited Bournemouth. The match ended 1-1, which felt like a welcome boost for the relegation candidate.
