Luisina Giovannini: “The truth is that I always really enjoy playing as a team and it brings back memories of the Billie Jean King Cup, of entering the field and seeing all the team players outside cheering. For me it is something very nice, you feel a different atmosphere. During the year we are very alone in the tournaments, and having this type of competition in Argentina is special: I think it’s nice for everyone to play as a team and feel accompanied. That’s why it’s one of the things I like the most and why I always come to play these series.”
Noelia Zeballos: “It is a very nice event, the truth is that I am not used to it. The atmosphere in Argentina is special: the people, the way they accompany you, the songs they sing. On the field it feels very nice, seeing people supporting you and encouraging you in a team context. There was a large crowd following the game and it was also televised. I think that in Argentina they give a lot of importance to this type of events and for me that is something new. In my country there are not usually competitions like this, except for the Billie Jean King Cup, which is also played by teams. That’s why it was a very nice experience for me.”
Francesca Mattioli: “Every time I have the possibility of coming to compete in Argentina it is totally different and incredible. Last year I couldn’t be on the team and I wanted to kill myself (laughs), but luckily this year I was able to come back and crown it by becoming champion again with this group, which is truly spectacular.”
Nicole Fossa Huergo: “Very happy, very happy to come back and be champions. Last year I was on the team and we were a little bitter, so we wanted revenge and this time we got it. Very happy with this team, which is very united.”
Matías Fernández (captain): “Although we have been playing together for several years, we started with an intermediate team and, little by little, we added each of the girls to form a large group, with many game and competition options. This match, in particular, was very important for us because it was the match that we had lost last year. That’s why we focused on turning it around and recovering the cup that had escaped us in the previous edition.”
