The separation between Carlos Alcaraz, world n.1, and his historic coach Juan Carlos Ferrero continues to make the tennis universe discuss. One week after the official announcement of the end of a relationship that lasted seven years and which led the 22-year-old Spaniard to conquer 24 ATP titles and six SlamsAlcaraz’s family breaks their silence.
In an interview given to the EFE agency, Alcaraz’s father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzálezchose not to go into the details of the reasons that led to the break with Ferrero, limiting himself to underlining that “Everyone is free to have their own opinion based on what they know”. With these words the man effectively stigmatized external speculation while avoiding fueling further controversy on the matter. The position of the champion’s parent comes after Ferrero himself, in an interview with Marca, had admitted feeling “hurt” by the decisionwhile also declaring a “sense of peace” for having done his duty.
The separation between Alcaraz and Ferrero came as a surprise to many observers, considering the results achieved together and the deep bond built over the years. According to some media and insiders, the decision may have been influenced by internal disagreements within the player’s staff, in particular between Ferrero and the figure of the father/agentand, even if the protagonists have not made official precise causes.
