FC Bayern intends to further strengthen its squad and is looking for new additions. Apparently the German record champions found what they were looking for in Belgium.
Munich – FC Bayern Munich could again secure the services of a sought-after young offensive player in the coming transfer period or in the summer. According to information from transfer expert Ekrem Konur, the name of Christos Tzolis from FC Brugge is being discussed internally at Säbener Straße.
The Greek, who began his career at PAOK Thessaloniki and is currently making a splash in Belgium after stints in Norwich, Enschede and Düsseldorf, is considered one of the most explosive wingers of his generation. After an impressive season with more than 20 goals in the Jupiler Pro League, his market value has now risen to around 30 million euros.
Next new signing for FC Bayern?
Tzolis, who almost single-handedly shot Fortuna Düsseldorf into the Bundesliga before moving to Bruges in 2024, has a contract until 2029. Nevertheless, a big offer from Bayern Munich could give the Belgian top club pause. The Greek himself made a telling comment during the Champions League game between Bruges and Bayern in October: “It’s always something special to play here in the Allianz Arena.” Only he and his advisor know whether that was a sign from the fence post.
The 23-year-old brings a lot of what Bayern coach Vincent Kompany values in a modern offensive player: speed, finishing ability and the ability to act flexibly on both wings. In Belgium he developed from a second division project into a potential international star within a year.
If Bruges are actually willing to negotiate for around 35 million euros, the transfer would be quite realistic – and would fit perfectly into Bayern’s recent transfer policy, which specifically focuses on young, developing players with international experience. Whether the deal goes through doesn’t just depend on the money. Tzolis had always emphasized in interviews that he would only move to a club that really believed in him. At FC Bayern, this condition – and perhaps a lot more – would be met. (smr)
