F1 Ratings: Canal+ Sees Season High with Norris Win

Exceptional finale, exceptional audience! On Sunday the Formula 1 season delivered its verdicts during the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, the final round of the year. At the end of a terrible suspense and a very indecisive three-way fight between Max Verstappen, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, the latter won his first world driver’s title.

An outcome which allowed Canal +, broadcaster of the competition, to achieve good audiences. An average of 1.87 million fans were in front of their screens – and Canal + – for the race, its record for the season and the “second historic audience for Formula 1 off-air” on the encrypted channel. A peak of 2.2 million viewers was reached at the finish of the race.

Fifth consecutive season with more than 1 million viewers on average

An appetite also visible on social networks since the Formula 1 World Championship “totals 350 million views on dedicated content in 2025, or on average 15 million views per Grand Prix”, indicates the channel in a press release.

“It is also the end of an exceptional season on Canal + with an audience at its highest in 13 years and notable moments on the air,” the press release also specifies. Canal + is signing a 2025 season with an average of 1.28 million viewers, the strongest season since the arrival of the Formula 1 World Championship on the channel in 2013. This is the fifth consecutive season with an average of more than 1 million viewers. »

The start of the next season is scheduled for March 2026. A season which still promises to be full of surprises and suspense before, in particular, the promotion of Frenchman Isack Hadjar to Red Bull. The countdown is on.
