The Colombian striker Duvan Vergarawho works as a professional player of Racing Club of Hazelnutkept everyone close to him in suspense when he got a tattoo for which he had to remain anesthetized for nine hours in an operating room in Cali. A few days after returning to training with the Academy, that will begin next Friday, January 3 in Paraguaythe forward is enjoying his last days of recess in his native country.
The exhaustive process was documented and broadcast through Vergara’s own YouTube channel, where many fans waited anxiously during the development of the tattoo. As could be seen in the photos and videos, three tattoo artists worked in shifts to cover the player’s entire torso with an image of a lion, an animal for which Vergara himself –like other footballers who also carry similar images on their skin, such as Mauro Icardi or Lautaro Martínez, among others.– revealed that he feels deeply represented.
Although the number of hours he was fasted and anesthetized presented a great risk For the player, he himself explained that the main objective from the beginning was to guarantee ideal conditions for the process, and for this reason the location chosen was very different from a conventional tattoo studio. Vergara’s publications provoked different responses from the public. On the one hand, many people highlighted the player’s physical resistance to endure the procedure, while others took it as a ‘show’ that distances him from his true goal, sports performance. However, it is not the first time that the Colombian shows a more personal side of himself that is far from football on social media, as he has been seen on several occasions sharing moments of his daily life, and even talking with his fans.
