On Catalan soil against FC Barcelona, AS Monaco negotiated this last meeting of the year perfectly this Tuesday evening during the 19th day of the Euroleague (74-90). For its part, Lyon-Villeurbanne is no longer last in the ranking thanks to its success against Paris (94-89).
AS Monaco clearly appreciates teams coming from the other side of the Pyrenees. This is the fifth victory in a row in all competitions for the Rocher club. From the first minutes of the match, the Monegasques imposed an interesting tempo, taking advantage of the absences in the opposite camp of inside Tornike Shengelia and winger Will Clyburn.
AS Monaco produced very good basketball, particularly in the second quarter, even approaching a twenty-point lead, also helped by FCB’s lack of precision on long-distance shots. In the second half, the Roca Team was serious from start to finish to control the meager comeback of the Catalans despite Dario Brizuela’s 25 points. The unfortunate finalist of the Euroleague last season is 5th in the standings (12 wins, 7 losses) halfway through the competition.

Opposite, Nadir Hifi (26 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists) tried to show the way but the Frenchman was very lonely, and Paris Basketball suffered the full force of Lyon-Villeurbanne’s return to favor. Played by Nando De Colo (17 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists), this fourth quarter was completely to the advantage of the locals who came back and then beat their French counterpart in the last seconds of the match.
