Just days before the African Cup of Nations, federation president Samuel Eto’o, who caused a major crisis by dismissing Cameroon National Team Coach Marc Brys, made another striking decision.
Former legendary Cameroonian striker Eto’o excluded former Beşiktaş player Vincent Aboubakar from the squad. It is claimed that Eto’o is worried about his goal record being broken.
HE IS WORRIED ABOUT BREAKING THE RECORD
According to SunSport’s news; It is claimed that 44-year-old Eto’o, the President of the Cameroon Football Federation, was effective in excluding Aboubakar, one of the country’s legendary names, from the squad. Aboubakar needs just 12 goals to become Cameroon’s all-time top scorer.
Eto’o holds the record with 56 goals scored in 118 matches. Aboubakar is the name that is rapidly approaching with 45 goals in 117 matches.
Sources state that Eto’o dismissed coach Marc Brys last week on grounds such as “insubordination” and “inciting the players against the federation” and replaced him with David Pagou.
The fact that Aboubakar was not included in the list presented to the federation by the new coach David Pagou caused great surprise in the country.
