Tip against Alonso
Real Madrid’s defeat against Celta Vigo still dominates the headlines in Spain. The 2-0 defeat for the Royals not only made Xabi Alonso’s coaching chair wobble, but also caused great discontent elsewhere. Endrick sat on the bench for the entire game, but was given a red card from the referee in the final phase due to his behavior. A reason for his father to dish it out on social media.
“They want to steal your shine”wrote Douglas Sousa. He further expresses his support for his talented son: “I know, son, how hard you work and how much you put into every minute of your day. I know your full potential. You are a winner and show everyone that you are a true fighter. Your star will continue to shine, even if some try to dim it. I firmly believe that your future lies here.”
Initially, there are many indications that Endrick will move to Olympique Lyon on loan for the rest of the season in order to gain match practice before the World Cup. That his dad still sees his future with Los Blancos and assumes that certain people are trying to get his star “to darken”can certainly be understood as a tip against Coach Alonso. Since the Spaniard has been on the sidelines, Endrick has virtually no longer played a role.
Headbutt Toney behind bars
Ivan Toney didn’t behave quite as headlessly as Real against Celta Vigo did in London’s nightlife on Sunday night. The Al Ahli center forward apparently got into a wild argument and didn’t hold back. A report in the ‘Sun’ shows that the 29-year-old Englishman gave a headbutt. The consequence: handcuffs.
Pictures on the front page of today’s edition of the tabloid show the seven-time international player being taken away by police. The trigger was apparently an aggressive fan who wanted a selfie and tried to implement his plan very aggressively. A witness is quoted by the Sun as saying: “One of them recognized him and said, ‘Oh, that’s Ivan Toney,’ and tried to put his hands around his neck to take a photo with him. […] And then Toney said, ‘Let me go, let me go!’ and headbutted one of the boys.”
As a result, the victim’s nose bled. However, the witness also said that Toney certainly felt threatened by the group of men: “He might have thought they were trying to attack him to take his necklace or his watch.” Just half an hour later, five uniformed men came to take care of the matter. Toney was released on bail later that night.
