He Elche reported this Friday that its institutional project will reach 326.38 million of euros for the city and the region, according to the economic impact tool developed by ‘KPMG‘ for LaLiga clubs.
The Alicante club indicated that the methodology applied by the company contemplates three levels of impact: the direct one, which includes the activity generated by the club itself and by the agents linked to professional football, the indirect one, which measures the transactions derived from the demand for intermediate goods and services, and the induced one, which analyzes the effect of consumption associated with the income generated by the employment created.
In this sense, Elche explained that the direct impact refers to the direct effects of professional football, encompassing the income and jobs generated by football and by other entities and economic agents closely related to professional football. These actors are, mainly, the club itself, the media, sports companies and the hospitality and transportation sectors, among others.
Regarding the indirect impact, it occurs as a consequence of the successive transactions carried out in the economic system due to the demand for intermediate goods and services, while the induced impact refers to an increase in the production of the different sectors, derived from the demand for products and services from the income coming from the direct and indirect jobs generated by professional football.
In this way, according to the comparative analysis of the clubs that achieved promotion to LaLiga EA Sports in the 2023-2024 season (EspanyolReal Valladolid and Leganes), this category jump entails an average increase of 55.2 percent in the economic impact in relation to LaLiga Hypermotion, 61.6 in tax collection and 59.4 in employment, in addition to an increase of 0.6 percentage points in the weight on municipal GDP.
“Therefore, the extrapolation for the Elche data estimates the economic impact at 326.38 million euros; in 140.6 million euros in tax collection and in the generation of 3,800 jobs“, detailed the franjiverde team.
The club stressed that with these data “confirms the value that his presence in professional football has on his surroundings, multiplied with promotion to the highest category“. “And not only from a sporting point of view, with the team located in ninth position in the table, but also from an economic point of view and visibility at a national and international level for the city of Elche, the province of Alicante and the Valencian Community.“he pointed out.
The economic impact includes the aggregate effect generated by the activity of professional football in a given territory, taking into account not only the direct activity of the club, but also the economic activities that are generated indirectly and those induced by the income derived from the employment created.
