Dutch Player Dispute: Club Threatens FIFA Action

Turkish club Samsunspor has announced that Anthony Musaba has effectively severed his ties with the club following transfer rumors that appeared in the media. Fenerbahçe would be close to signing the 25-year-old former left winger from NEC and SC Heerenveen, but according to Samsunspor, negotiations were not allowed at all without permission.

According to Samsunspor, Musaba did not appear at Wednesday’s training without permission. In addition, despite a decision by the head coach to include him, he refused to be included in the match selection for the cup match with Eyüpspor (2-1 win).

The club reports that all of Musaba’s disciplinary violations have been officially recorded. Samsunspor emphasizes that the player still has a current contract.

Based on FIFA regulations, a player with a valid contract is not allowed to negotiate with other clubs without written permission. Other clubs are also not allowed to make contact without permission from Samsunspor.

Because Musaba, according to the club, has clearly violated both his contract and FIFA rules, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated against him.

Fenerbahçe is said to be determined to move quickly and sees Musaba as an immediate reinforcement for the second half of the season.

Fenerbahçe’s technical staff has been closely following the performance of Musaba, who should cost six million euros, at Samsunspor for some time and the managers are said to be convinced of his added value.
