In the men’s tennis singles at the 15th National Games that just ended in November 2025, Du Weilun, a player from Tangshan, Hebei Province, passed all the tests and won fifth place. This post-90s player who has been deeply involved in the tennis industry for more than 20 years once again demonstrated the endless power of persistence and love in his swing.

Du Weilun was born in 1994. Since he was a child, he has participated in many competitions because of his fast running speed. Over the years that he has taken root in the tennis industry, he has experienced countless competitions, large and small, and seven or eight hours of training every day has become commonplace. Behind each transcript is an athlete’s complete and determined growth trajectory. From the Nike Cup and Li-Ning Cup as a teenager to the provincial and municipal championships and national competitions as an adult, every outing is a forging of skills and determination. Speaking of his fate with tennis, it starts with the first time he received a business card from a tennis training coach when he was 9 years old.
From hobby to profession, from amateur to profession, this road involves the sweat of the early morning training ground and the struggle not to admit defeat, but he just gritted his teeth and persisted. In 2016, Du Weilun, who had accumulated enough honors and achievements in professional tennis, made a surprising decision to give up the opportunity of professional tennis and return to his hometown of Tangshan. With a deeper understanding of tennis, a more systematic training concept, and an original intention to “let more children fall in love with tennis,” he chose to continue writing a new chapter in his hometown.

Here, Du Weilun is no longer just an athlete on the court, but also a senior coach at the Huahai Planet Sports Tennis Center. In order to teach better, he worked hard to obtain ITF and PTR international certified teacher qualification certificates. At the same time, he tailors a variety of teaching models based on each student’s characteristics, needs, interests and development advantages. Qi Hongjin, a student he trained, won the U.S. Eddy Cup U14 men’s singles championship in December 2024, becoming the first Chinese champion in the event; Zhang Ruojiao won the U16 singles championship in the National Youth Points Ranking Tournament. Up to now, Du Weilun has taught more than 30 students, the oldest is over 60 years old, and the youngest is only 3 years old.
From receiving tennis enlightenment to becoming a tennis enlightenment person, leaving his hometown and returning to his hometown, Du Weilun used his choices to interpret another form of love. He has allowed more children to hold a racket and has become the “business card hander” for many children today on their tennis journey.
