Today, December 28, 2025, the official sales data for the Christmas week arrive. The battle for the top of the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop has a clear winner. Donkey Kong Bananza regained first place, beating the sci-fi colossal Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
The choice of players rewards the “family factor”. During the holidays, we look for shared fun. DK and Pauline’s adventure, freshly updated to version 3.0.0, proved to be perfect for the period. Metroidthe darkest and most solitary title, even slipped to fifth position.
The podium confirms the dominance of brands for all ages. In second place goes Pokémon Legends: ZA, followed by the inevitable Mario Kart World and by Kirby Air Riders. Closing the Top 10 are giants such as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition e Madden NFL 26demonstrating the variety of the new console’s library.
The ranking of “digital only” titles is also interesting. Here Hades 2 reigns, who does not give up the top. In second place is the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksongwhich surpassed the excellent remaster of Red Dead Redemption. The scenario, however, could change soon. On the horizon is the return of Animal Crossing: New Horizons with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition specification. A title capable of monopolizing the charts for months. For now, though, the crown is firmly on Donkey Kong Bananza’s head.
