Since the start of the season, the duo Luka Doncic – Austin Reaves hits the screen at the Los Angeles Lakers. First of all, on a sporting level, the two men were the symbols of the good start to the season for Angelenos.
But also in relation to their relationship. Very close, they formed a real connection in less than a year, since the Slovenian’s trade from the Dallas Mavericks. For ESPN, Reaves and Doncic have also explained this link.
“We act like we’ve been best friends for 10 years. We care about each other beyond basketball. And that carries over to the court, because we don’t want to let each other down… We want to give the best of ourselves,” Austin Reaves said.
“We understand each other, we know what each other is going to do. So I would say it’s a bit of a natural connection,” added Luka Doncic.
A friendship which obviously risks having an impact on the future of the Lakers. It’s no secret that the Angelenos now want to build around Luka Doncic, extended until 2028 (player option in 2029).
And to support the ex-Madrilenian, the priority will therefore be to retain Austin Reaves, at the end of his contract next summer. Californians are crossing their fingers that this beautiful friendship proves to be a winner on the floors.
