Dodgers Players: Wives’ Athleticism Question

The Los Angeles Dodgers and their families have joined the somewhat recent social media trend of asking people if they wish they were more athletic and capturing their reaction on video.

The trend often does not discriminate, as any person could be the target. But current and former professional athletes make for the best subjects because they are objectively more athletic than most people.

This type of video has made the rounds throughout the sports world, from the Seattle Seahawks in the NFL, to Olympian Simone Biles, and Hall of Fame pitcher Randy Johnson, just to name a few.

With the offseason in full swing, the significant others of Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Tommy Edman, Will Smith and more got in on the fun.

Freeman is the first victim and responds to the question with a perplexed, “Excuse me?” before admitting that he wish he ran faster.

When asked if he wished he was naturally athletic like football players, Muncy rebutted that he is more athletic than most of them. But Muncy also wishes he was slightly more athletic generally.

Edman offered the most confused response, at one point responding to his wife by asking if the question was about playing for the Oakland Athletics.

Meanwhile, Will Klein was not fooled and identified the trend immediately.

Smith answered his question with a simple and straightforward “sure” before inquiring why he was being filmed.

Shohei Ohtani part of Dodgers pranks

In the spirit of the Dodgers having fun on the internet, there is something to look forward to at the start of Spring Training next year besides that fact that baseball is back.

Shohei Ohtani first pranked manager Dave Roberts in 2024 by gifting him a Porsche to commemorate surpassing him to become the Dodgers’ all-time home run leader among Japanese-born players on May 4, 2024. The caveat was that it was a toy car.

The joke carried over into 2025, with Ohtani going with a slightly bigger option this time around.

Could the Dodgers superstar be cooking up new ideas for a third iteration of the prank, or will he get his manager the real thing after winning back-to-back World Series titles? Only time will tell.
