Novak Djokovic grabs the next record

If the devil doesn’t act, Novak Djokovic will soon be the owner of the next record. According to the renowned data provider “Opta”, the Serb will serve in the main draw of a Grand Slam tournament for the 81st time at the upcoming Australian Open, thus equaling the record set by Roger Federer and Feliciano Lopez.

At the French Open in Paris, Djokovic could become the sole record holder among men. There is currently no danger from behind: Federer and Lopez as well as fourth-placed Richard Gasquet (75) have already ended their careers, and Stan Wawrinka (74), who is in fifth place, will do so after the coming season.

Djokovic hasn’t had enough yet

Djokovic, on the other hand, still has a lot to do in the autumn of his career. The long-time world number one recently announced that he would not end his career until after the 2028 Olympic Games. Then the Serb would be 41 years old.

Djokovic will open the 2026 season at the ATP 250 tournament in Adelaide before moving on to the Australian Open. In Melbourne, the record winner is aiming for his eleventh tournament victory. Last year, the 24-time Grand Slam winner had to give up in the semifinals against the German Alexander Zverev.
