Dinosaur Statue Death: Man Found Inside

When a Spanish family went missing for several days in 2021, they turned to the police out of concern. His disappearance made no sense, and no one thought the man would have any reason to evaporate without explanation. At this moment, those closest to him expected many things, but certainly not what followed in the next few hours.

A search was launched for the 39-year-old Spaniard, but to no avail. He did not appear to have personal problems or be a victim of crime. After just a few hours, however, there was an unexpected twist.

In the Santa Coloma de Gramenet district of Barcelona, in one of the parks there was a statue of a stegosaurus, which was originally supposed to serve as an advertising banner for a nearby cinema. Although the said business was eventually closed, the huge figurine of the prehistoric creature was left in place.

During the walk, a random passer-by who was there with his son noticed that the dinosaur was cracked in several places and through the cracks you could see into its entrails. Upon closer inspection, there seemed to be something inside that looked suspiciously like part of a human body.

That’s why the phone rang again at the police station just a few hours after the missing man was reported missing. At first, the law enforcement officials did not think anything special about the announcement, but nevertheless decided to investigate the matter for all cases.

A ranger who arrived at the scene was horrified to discover that a human body was actually inside the stegosaurus’ hind leg. Firefighters were therefore called to help, who carefully cut the statue open and removed the unknown person from it – unfortunately no longer showing signs of life.

After carrying out several necessary actions, it was finally proven that this was the man for whom the family had been searching for many days in vain. But it was still not clear how he got into the space inside the mannequin and why exactly he died.

The medical examiner found no signs of violence or injuries. The cause of death was most likely a lack of oxygen and severe dehydration. But it still remained to be determined why the deceased was exactly where he was.

In the end, the explanation was simpler than it seemed at first. It turned out that the man’s mobile phone had fallen inside the mannequin. When he tried to pull it out, it seemed like a logical solution to simply crawl into the dinosaur’s guts. The problem, however, was that it was impossible to move in the confined space, so it was impossible for anyone to get out again without help. Because the man was stuck headfirst in the statue, no one could hear his cries for help.

In the following days, people started coming to the already destroyed mannequin, bringing flowers and candles in memory of the deceased. The town hall then decided that the statue would be permanently removed for security reasons.

Although it seems surprising, such incidents are not as rare as it might seem. For example, in Canada, a young man tried to climb the famous Talus Dome sculpture, which is composed of a thousand metal balls. However, he inadvertently slipped through the gap between the individual components and got stuck. Only thanks to a random passer-by, the security forces were called to the scene, who had to use heavy machinery to free the unfortunate man.
