In the quarter-finals of the DFB Cup, Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern and second-placed RB Leipzig will face each other in the top duel. “This is of course the hardest possible draw for us and an absolute cracker in this DFB Cup quarter-final,” said
Leipzig Sports managing director Marcel Schäfer at the draw in the German Football Museum in Dortmund.
According to the rules of the draw, the… FC Bayern received the Leipzig team for the game as the Munich ball was drawn first. In the last home game against Leipzig at the beginning of the season, Bayern clearly won 6-0. The teams are currently separated by eight points in the table. “The 6-0 loss on the first match day will no longer play a role in our minds, we are a completely different team now. We are therefore approaching the game as a big task, but we are traveling to Munich with self-confidence, confidence and certainly not without a chance,” announced Schäfer.
The two remaining second division teams each received a home game. Accordingly, Hertha BSC receives SC Freiburg. Holstein Kiel plays against defending champions VfB Stuttgart. According to information, former champions Bayer Leverkusen will play in the home game against Bundesliga rivals FC St. Pauli.
