The regional badminton championship of the Quebec Student Sports Network (RSEQ) Côte-Nord, which took place in Baie-Comeau this weekend, was largely dominated by the versatile Berges des Bergeronnes.
She won seven of the nine banners at stake for the high school categories. She won the title in the female and mixed junior, in the female and mixed cadet as well as the three juvenile banners (female, male and mixed).
The other two awards for the entire competition went to the Atanukan of the Manikanetish school in Uashat, that of the youngest male and the youngest male.
At the primary level, the banners were awarded, for the hummingbird and the female mosquito, to the Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur school (Sacré-Cœur), for the male hummingbird to the Marie-Immaculée des Escoumins school and for the female mosquito to the École des Découvertes de Fermont and the Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Cœur school, which finished tied on points.
No less than 300 young student-athletes took part in the championship.
The performances of the versatile des Berges at the regional competition are transposed to the north-coastal delegation which will go to the RSEQ Provincial Championship on April 11, 12 and 13 in Amqui with sixteen young people out of twenty-four. The Manikanetish school (4), the L’Abri Educational Center in Port-Cartier (3) and the Serge-Bouchard secondary school in Baie-Comeau (1) complete the portrait.
