De Mil Calls for Ukraine Reinforcements

Rik De Mil faces his baptism of fire at KAA Gent. The coach left Sporting Charleroi for the Buffalos and will look into the eyes of Royal Antwerp FC next matchday, a club that also wanted to steal him from the Carolos last summer.

De Mil eventually signed a new contract with Charleroi and afterwards Union SG would also come knocking. Charleroi also held its ground then, but when KAA Gent came along the T1 proved untenable. He was now giving a personal conference.

More reinforcements

In addition to Ivan Leko, KAA Gent also saw T2 Nicolas Still leave. De Mil immediately bangs hard on the table at the Buffaloes. “I work very individually with players. That takes a lot of hours. With Timothy (Derijck, ed.) I already have a great assistant, but reinforcements are definitely needed,” he said. The Latest News.

De Mil’s staff is therefore not yet complete. “Sometimes it is better to search a few days longer to find the right profiles that can make KAA Gent stronger. Hans (Cornelis and his assistant at Charleroi, ed.) was obvious, but the intention was not to destabilize Charleroi.”

Staff at Charleroi

Most of Charleroi’s staff remained intact after De Mil’s departure to KAA Gent. Partly for this reason, Mehdi Bayer chose (for the time being) to appoint Hans Cornelis as interim coach. The intention is that Charleroi will continue with the current staff until the end of the season.
