DDV’23: Martin de Winkel Contract Extension

DDV’23 EXTENDS CONTRACT WITH SUCCESS TRAINER MARTIN DE WINKEL

Ooij December 16, 2025: DDV’23 and head coach Martin de Winkel reached an agreement this week to extend his expiring contract for 1 season. This means that the Ooijse coach will continue until at least the summer of 2027 Ooijs/Leuthse combination remains connected. This means he will start his 8th season from this summer op row.

Martin returned to the club he had previously managed for a few years in the summer of 2019. Hampered by COVID, the first 2 seasons were not completed, although he did manage to win a period title in his first season. His first full season (2021/2022) was an immediate success. With SVO’68, the coach became champion of the 5th class D without losing a single point. In the following season, in close collaboration with VVLK, the polder formation managed to surprise friend and foe by competing for the championship in the 4th class for a long time. The title ultimately had to be left to VV Krayenhoff, but he knew SO/VVLK to still enforce a historic promotion to the 3rd division through the play-offs. Plagued by many injuries in a very strong 3rd division, the stay of the merger association continued VAT’23 limited to 1 season. Last year the Blue and white for a long time in the wake of OSC, it was relatively easy to qualify again for the play-off competition for promotion, but that perspective was lost precisely in the final phase of the competition. After the departure of several strong players, it was a matter of waiting to see how VAT’23 would hold its own in the current competition, but the poldermen are doing very well for the time being. The Winkel formation managed to win the 1st period and enters the winter break as the leader. With a total of 1 championship, 1 promotion and 4 period titles, Martin can rightly be called a successful trainer.

Regardless of all the successes achieved, the board and technical committee are convinced that Martin is still the right technical man for the young merged association. Despite his long tenure as head coach at the Camps he still shows himself to be motivated, passionate and ambitious and knows how to lift players to a higher level. In addition, the Ooijse coach is closely involved in youth football and, in collaboration with the youth committee, he contributes to the development of our youth department.

VAT’23 is therefore very pleased with the extension of the collaboration and we wish Martin good luck in the current season and of course also in the 2026/2027 season.
