“With the new DAZN Matchday Pass we want to offer fans an additional level of flexibility and customisation“, declared Stefano Azzi, CEO of DAZN Italia, presenting the platform’s new pay-per-view option. “We know that every fan experiences football differently: there are those who don’t miss a single championship match and those who, instead, only follow their favorite team. But when the calendar offers great challenges, even those most loyal to a single color find themselves living the entire day of football with friends, regardless of rivalries. This new subscription was created precisely to respond to these different needs, offering an even more flexible way to live and enrich your football experience on DAZN”.
The new Day Pass, introduced yesterday, allows you to purchase an entire day of viewing without constraintswhich is not equivalent to a physical day but to a shift that can go from Friday to Monday. However, there is a problem: it is not a pass intended for everyone, but only to users who are already subscribers to DAZN with the Goal or MyClubPass plan. By paying 19.90, these users will also be able to watch matches not included in their subscription.
The option includes live and on-demand viewing of the matches, pre- and post-match coverage, the “Enilive Serie A Zone” windows and live in-depth content on the platform. In practical terms, depending on the starting plan, the Pass unlocks access to 7 or 9 additional games for the selected round. In the event of postponement of one or more matches, DAZN guarantees that the user will retain the right to follow them when they are actually played.
Az’s “flexibility” rhetoriczi, however, starts to creak if you look at the costs. The Goal plan offers three matches per day, those broadcast co-exclusively with Sky and NOW (Saturday at 8.45pm, Sunday at 6.00pm, Monday at 8.45pm), plus at least four big matches per season. Costs: 19.99 euros per month with a monthly formula, 129 euros for the annual subscription in a single solution, or 13.99 euros per month for 12 months.
The MyClubPass plan, introduced this season, allows you to exclusively follow the matches of your favorite team selected during the subscription phase. It costs 329 euros per year in a single payment, or 29.99 euros per month for 12 months. There is no monthly formula.
In other words, DAZN asks 19.99 euros for a single day from users who already spend between 14 and 30 euros a month for a partial service.
The price of the Day Pass becomes even more difficult to justify if you look at the commercial policies that DAZN itself has been pursuing for months now. The platform regularly offers promotional offers that allow you to subscribe to a full year of Standard subscription for a total of 19.99 euros, the exact same amount required to access a single round of the championship. The MyClubPass plan was even offered at 9.99 euros per month for a short period.
The message that reaches loyal users is contradictory to say the least: those who subscribe today with a promotion pay 19.99 euros for 38 full days; those who already have an active season ticket and want to watch all the matches of a single weekend must shell out the same amount for just one day.
To purchase the Day Pass you need to access your customer area via desktop, enter the “My Account“, select “Additional Services” and choose the Pass dedicated to the desired day in the area “pay-per-view“. The amount is debited immediately to one of the payment methods accepted by the platform, excluding prepaid codes. DAZN announces that in the future the option can also be purchased through authorized third-party partners.
The platform also reserves the possibility to modify the list of compatible plans or to introduce promotions on the Day Pass, an eventuality which, given the current pricing, would not surprise anyone.
