Suspicion of doping: English professional excluded from Darts World Cup
Excitement in London: Darts professional Dom Taylor is suspended after his opening victory. It’s not the first time he’s noticed.
Darts professional Dom Taylor has been excluded from the World Championships after another positive doping test. This was announced by the umbrella organization of the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC), the Darts Regulation Authority (DRA). The statement added that there will be no further statement from either the DRA or the PDC until the proceedings are completed.
Taylor started the tournament on December 14th in his World Cup debut with a 3-0 win against Oskar Lukasiak from Sweden, but is now no longer allowed to take part due to the positive test result. This decision was made in accordance with current DRA guidelines. Disciplinary proceedings will also be initiated.
Taylor should have challenged world number five Jonny Clayton in the second round. The Welshman now progresses without a fight.
Last year, 27-year-old Taylor had to postpone his premiere at Alexandra Palace after he gave a positive doping test in autumn 2024. Immediately after his opening success, he recently spoke of the “biggest low blow of my life”.
At that time, however, he was able to prove that he had not taken the drug during a competition. Therefore he was only suspended for a month. What substance it was was not published.
