Daniel Bauer: New Wolfsburg Head Coach | VfL Wolfsburg

Daniel Bauer joins VfL Wolfsburg officially moved from interim to head coach. After his successful work in recent weeks, the Bundesliga club awarded the previous U19 coach a contract until June 30, 2027.

“Daniel once again took over the team in a difficult phase and not only stabilized it, but also developed it week after week. He managed to form a strong unit and bring new life into the team,” VfL managing director Peter Christiansen was quoted as saying in a statement from the club, which the Lower Saxony team published around an hour before the last game of the year against SC Freiburg.

The 43-year-old coach took over the Bundesliga team on November 9th as the successor to the hapless Paul Simonis. With the Dutchman signed in the summer, VfL had previously only won three of twelve competitive games.

“I am very grateful for the club’s trust,” said Bauer. “The team has worked extremely well in the last few weeks and shown what potential they have. For us, it’s now about consistently continuing on this path with clarity, passion and cohesion.”
