An unexpected tragedy mourned the local sports community this Sunday when Daniel Archilla, 55, leader of the Colón Junior club, died while participating in a soccer match at the Club Atlético Ferroviario facilities, in the department of Chimbas.
The incident occurred around 11 in the morning. Archilla began to feel unwell and requested his change to the technical director. When he left the playing field, he went towards the back of one of the goals, where he fell lying down.
Witnesses reported that he apparently suffered cardiac arrest. Immediately, those present requested emergency medical assistance and attempts were made to help him, but all efforts were unsuccessful.
Police intervention and causes of death
The Police from the 26th Precinct intervened in the incident. The case was referred to the UFI Special Crimes, which will be in charge of the corresponding proceedings. To determine the precise causes of death, an autopsy will be ordered on the body.
