In terms of tennis, it was the best of his career so far, and above all an extremely stable one – with the highlights being the quarter-finals in Rotterdam and Metz, the round of 16 in Monte-Carlo, Roland-Garros and the Paris Masters. Plus victories over Taylor Fritz (at Roland-Garros) and Casper Ruud (at the Paris Masters). In the end, 46th place is the career high so far for the man from Kempen.
Family man Altmaier had already announced his engagement to the Mexican Paulina Anieto at the beginning of the year, so now they said yes. Which Altmaier had already announced in advance as “the biggest highlight of this year”. “It is an extremely important step in my life, both as a person and as a player,” Altmaier told the in September Tennis Magazine.
